India- Africa Trade Exhibition takes off

The “India-Africa: Partners in Growth” exposition was formally inaugurated on Monday as the 2017 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group kicked off at the Mahatma Mandir Conference and Exhibition Center, in Gujarat, India.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, India’s Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, formally unveiled the exhibition alongside Vijay Bhai Rupani, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Santosh Kumar Gangwar Ji, Union Minister of State for Finance, and other top government officials.

Meghwal who took time to visit the shops in the exhibition arena explained that the initiative is aimed at showcasing the capabilities of Indian companies in technology, innovation, and start-ups, which could be relevant to African countries.

The AfDB meetings will afford key players from India and Africa the opportunity to discuss better ways of boosting mutual economic cooperation, trade and industrial development. The ‘India-Africa: Partners in Growth’ session is expected to cover areas such as trade and investment, agriculture, renewable energy and manufacturing as well as Information Technology IT, among others. India will also be eyeing cooperation with Africa on the International Solar Alliance (ISA) initiative, of which France and India are the co-chairs.
