Delegates attending the Annual Meetings of the AfDB need not worry about the distances they have to trek to reach the venues of events lined up for the summit. Inside the expansive Mahatma Mandir International Convention Center, golf carts and their operators are always within sight to convey them to their various destinations, save time and reduce stress.
AnnualMeetings Daily gathered that the golf cart services, which are exclusively for movements within the sprawling convention and exhibition centre, is amongst the logistics provided by the management of the facility to ease the movement of conference and exhibition attendees.
Some of the operators of the golf carts who spoke to AnnualMeetings Daily explained that the services were part of the hospitality package designed to give visitors to the centre a ‘Very Important Personality’ (VIP) treatment. “Our cart (vehicle) ensures that guests are escorted around the expansive convention centre without getting tired due to trekking. We also help them locate their venues in less time,” Pareshi Rohit, a golf-cart operator said.
The Mahatma Mandir International Convention Center, venue of this year’s AfDB Annual Meetings, is a world-class facility for international conferences and event venue spacious enough to handle up to 15,000 participants as well as convention hall with seating capacity for about 6,000 people.
According to Samir Khan Pathene, a golf cart operator, the centre is large and complex to the extent that most first-time visitors may find it difficult to easily locate their destinations on time, hence the need for the golf-carts.
