The government of South Sudan has braced itself to implement policy models that helped countries such as Ethiopia and Rwanda transform from conflict and fragile states to stable and prosperous economies.
South Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Aggrey Tisa Sabuni, made the disclosure in Washington D.C. on Thursday while fielding questions on the challenges facing conflict states.
According to Mr. Sabuni, the newly created oil-rich African nation is looking forward to tap into the experiences of its neighbours in the quest to rebuild the war-ravaged country.
“Ethiopia and Rwanda remain a great example of how a conflict affected state can overcome its fragility and become economically prosperous. And we are looking forward to applying those policies and programmes that contributed to their success stories today”, he stressed.
Areas the government of South-Sudan is focusing its attention on, include institutional capacity building, good governance and transparency, and efficient budget implementations.
