IMF pushes for continued Ukraine support

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has pledged continued support for Ukraine through its Extended Fund Facility programme, commending the country’s effective economic management amidst challenges.

She urged the global community to continue their efforts to aid the war-torn country during this crisis.

The IMF managing director stated that Ukraine’s economy is recovering faster than anticipated, but the country’s financing needs for next year are higher than previously estimated.

“Ukraine’s recovery can only be sustained with unwavering support,” she said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the international community for their support of Ukraine during a ministerial roundtable co-chaired by the Ukraine government, the World Bank, and the IMF in Marrakech.

He noted that the country’s international partners prioritize maintaining sanctions, supporting asset confiscation, ensuring long-term financial support, promoting private investment, and enhancing project financing.
