Afreximbank invests $40bn to Boost Intra-African Trade
African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has invested $40 billion to ensure free trade in Africa from
2022 to 2026, in line with AfCFTA's vision for regional trade promotion.
Dr. Gainmore Zanamwe, Acting Director of Trade Facilitation and IATF at Afreximbank, highlighted the
bank's efforts in enhancing intra-African trade.
He highlighted Afreximbank's strategies to tackle challenges like low intra-regional trade flow,
investment, and industrialization, including the Intra African Trade Fair for market awareness and
connections.
Dr. Zanamwe emphasized trade barriers and praised Afreximbank's comprehensive financing and trade
facilitation plans, including maritime and airline connectivity initiatives and a transit guarantee scheme.
Dr Zanamwe highlights digital solutions' transformative impact on intra-African trade, addressing
challenges like lack of access to trade and market information through intervention toolkits.
